Quirk of human nature.
I thought change was due. I thought change was needed. I thought the need for change was obvious.
I thought wrong.
I over sold the idea of change. I didn't get the sale.
The buyer wanted to know what I would change. I guess that is code for "Don't change a thing."
Being clueless to the question I answered on face value.
All of this is just like home. Go home tonight and tell them you are getting into Amway, or starting night school, or getting a part time job in retail because you want to be a salesman, or that you are joining an investment club, or that you have a chance to get in on the ground floor of a great new idea that will make you rich.
They don't want to hear it. They know you. You might have done everything ever asked of you but you are full of gas. You can't possibly know what you are talking about.
If you let people become too familiar with you they will take you for granted.
What kind of a reward is that for hard work and loyalty?
