part time readers

I've noticed since I started this project that there are two types of people in the world, those who read and those who don't. This is not the same as people who can read and people who can't, that's literacy and it's a measurement for educators.

What I am talking about is the fact that there are people who can read but choose not to. That is really a shame because reading is one of the great and powerful gifts given to us, it can help us improve are lives and can give us enjoyment repeatedly. I don't understand this at all.

I have of course pointed people I know towards this blog, some become avid readers and some never come back. The writing is kept short on purpose, I get to the point in as few words as possible with each entry and I am moderate in my vocabulary. I write about many different things and put little turns in many articles.

So what is the problem with these people who won't read? Must just work for them.

Now I'm not talking about them just not reading my blog because I've noticed they don't like reading lots of things. One only reads the newspaper, sports section in particular. One only reads the Bible, nothing secular. One uses a computer at work therefore he doesn't want to look at one at home.

On the other hand, this might work in my favor. My next blog is going to be subject specific so I will attract these types of part time readers if they have an interest in the subject.

Works for me.
