To get what you want you have to commit to doing whatever it takes to reach your goal.

Wanting to be in better shape is useless without committing to exercise.
Wanting to lose weight is pointless when you're still pounding down the cokes.
Wanting to quit smoking is silly when you rush outside for a smoke at every opportunity.
Wanting to move up the ladder in your company is foolish when they demand more education and you won't go back to school.
Wanting to write a book is senseless when you don't spend any time at all writing about anything.

Time passes quickly. It's gone before you know it and so is your chance to get what you want.
