experimenting with vegetables

Since my 6 day fast I am limiting myself to mostly fruits and vegetables.

I had a cold naval orange yesterday and wondered why anyone would buy a candy bar when they could have one of these.

I've also been working on some vegetable mixes that can be easily thrown together and eaten for lunch. Simple combinations of vegetables and spices over a sauce or light cheese. Nuke and go.

Of course all simple things tend to get more complicated. It won't be long before I am roasting one or two of the veggies for added flavor. Making spice blends from fresh instead of just shaking out the contents of some bottle.

Before you know it, it won't taste all that good at all. I'll make it all too complicated and will completely lose the original, and simple, idea.

Twenty years ago I could make a fantastic stew. It cleared your sinuses with the first spoonful. It was great in the winter. It really isn't the same when I make it now. I think.

Of course that leads to the crux of the tail. Our perceptions change as we go along and we cannot see things as we once did. It's called perspective.
