retching on the grass

I remember the first day of cross country practice in a time when kids didn't have to work out all year long for their sport. Half the runners were basketball players and some of them were not ready for a little 3 mile run on a hot afternoon.

The team predictably strung out over the first leg of the run, a simple out and back course. I was on the way back already, doing better than some and worse than others, when I began passing some of the other boys. They were stopping in people's front yards and retching on the grass.

It was a little setback but it didn't stop them, they all finished.

Don't take little setbacks too seriously. Evaluate them but don't let them stop you.

I'm into the first full day of my fast, about 22 hours into it. There is a faint echo of a headache brewing, probably withdrawal syptoms from caffeine. I love Coca-cola.
