lists

Some how or other I've got myself a four day weekend. Trying to stave off possible inactivity I've made myself a list of things to do.

That is the easy part.

It will be easier still to let the list lay dormant, to not open the door when opportunity knocks. For that is surely what available time is, opportunity knocking. Time is the only thing that we really have, and we have less of it, well, all the time.

Friday is my anniversary date at work, twenty five years. Thirty eight days later is another anniversary, my fiftieth birthday. These two dates mark the passing of another aniversary, one already gone by, one most people might think of but wouldn't put their finger on. I have spent half of my life working in the same place. That is all time I have spent and I sure don't have that much left.

If you want to get things done, writing lists is a good place to start. Doing the items on the list is the second half; the game isn't over until you play the second half.

Here is a short list by Sally Ride, astronaut.

Three Secrets to Success

  1. Be willing to learn new things.
  2. Be able to assimilate new information quickly.
  3. Be able to get along with and work with other people.
